Upcoming Competitions

Normally I don’t give much notice beforehand when I have competitions. That’s because I believe there aren’t too many people following my blog who live in Dakar…Osaka…or Rio that need to be notified that I’ll be competing right around the corner from them. But now that I have my first two competitions coming up that are going to be on U.S. soil, I figured I’d give those of you who are stateside a heads up. This weekend I’ll be competing at the Reebok Grand Prix in New York. If you are from New York or can easily travel by plane, train, or automobile, I suggest you make it a point to be there. Of course me being there should be incentive enough, but it also is sure to be a truly exciting and competitive meet, with plenty of your favorite Olympians and world-class athletes. The same can be said for the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon, my next meet on June 7th.

For those of you who can’t make it, both meets will be broadcast on NBC. (Reebok on May 30th from 4:30 to 6pm Eastern time and Pre on June 7th from 11am to 1pm Pacific time). Of course trying to catch a glimpse of me on T.V. will be about as easy as spotting a shooting star. It’s possible…just not probable. I will be competing in the long jump and the best we can hope for is a shot of us in the background as they pan around the track during the mile. Field events get no love on T.V. broadcasts in the U.S., and while I will do my best to do my stretching right by the broadcaster getting ready to introduce the field in the 400 meters, I make no promises you will see me unless you are there live in person.

Hope to see you there! (or just wish me luck and tell me how you wish you could be there...)

Ms. Glenn,
Great News! That means you are competing very well, organizers want you in their events (and your agents doing some work!). Good to see you in 2 of 3 premier American pro events (no adidas Track Classic – no Women’s Long Jump; sad).
I had hoped to make the Reebok event, even planned it out (pulling "strings", lol), but kid issues nix that one. I hear it is a great facility; you can let us know if that’s true (a preview for the upcoming IAAF Diamond event to be there. And YES, I’m definitely going to that, even if I have to drag the knotthead kids along, lol. Hopefully you’ll be pulling those events next year).
Pre though is definitely happening. It will be great to see you compete ‘live’ again (haven’t seen you once this year, you skipped Mt. SAC). That is always a well run event in Eugene, from the spectator side at least. And they have the Long Jump runways on the Proper side of the stadium, lol, Finishline side, so I don’t need binoculars to watch the jumpers, lol.
Hope you do well, at both events!
See you from afar!

Well, we don't do luck, so GOD SPEED!

And one way to guarantee yourself some air time is to compete in something akin to that patriotic tie-dye beach gear you sported in your previous blog entry. Granted, your usual habiliments aren’t far off, but there was just something extra special about that Brazilian number. (I just can't quite put my finger--or any other part of my anatomy--on it. *Insert rimshot here, please.*) I’m sure that’ll get Dwight Stone’s attention.

LOL?!

I'm a bit disappointed. I got so excited when I saw your name among the jumpers for Hengelo and then to find out we were second choice. :(

But hey, as long as you kick butts and set records I'm cool. Doesn't matter where. *grinning*

Do your thing and come back and blog, or should I say tweet, about it...
