A message to my readers...

I am a known hothead. My buttons are not only visible; they light up, rotate, and have their own personal buzzer to alert others where to push. This is not news to anyone who knows me. I am not the silent type, and life does not seem complete if I do not have the last word on any subject that is close to my heart…or close to my orbit for that matter. I am known to possess an inordinate amount of stubbornness and as I’m sure my friends and family can attest to, it is not one of my best qualities.

All of this to say that I know that there are times that people write things simply to get a rise out of me. And against my better judgment, I give it to them. And in this growing mix of people who don’t see the point in thinking anything I do is worth writing about and yet still take the time to read and comment, and those who come out of left field and add nothing to the conversation, and those who are simply just morons, I find myself directing way too much energy where it isn’t needed. I prefer that people stop by for positive reasons and because they see a benefit in doing so. If you don’t, that is totally okay but please know that you can leave quietly, without so much as a peep to let me know you were here. I know I have no control over this but I have to think that it serves no real purpose to waste moments of your life subjecting yourself to something you find bothersome.

Furthermore, I would like for the focus of my blog to not keep drifting away from its intended purpose. I assume people stop by to read about what's going on in my life and there is no reason for anyone to think they are getting something different. I write about my life because that is what I know. I do not claim to be the most interesting, to have the hardest struggle, to be the most accomplished, to have the best writing skills, to be deserving of this or that. And I really don’t think it’s fair that I constantly have to go on the defensive for sharing my story with the few of you who continue to have problems with it.

So since I’d like to continue this blog for a little while longer because it is something I find enjoyment in, I am going to try and rid it of the things that take away from that pleasure. I don’t want to be annoyed every time I read my comments. I don’t want my friends and family to have to go off on folks for being ignorant and not respecting that at the end of the day this is my way of simply sharing my experience with those who care. I know it’s not a good look for me to be combative and I don’t think it adds anything except getting me fired up for no good reason. This is a free world but at the end of the day it is MY blog. I know I am speaking to the minority but I felt it needed to be said before it got out of hand. To everyone else, I truly do appreciate the moments you spend here and I hope that you continue to do so.

***The comments will be moderated for the foreseeable future...I don't mind thoughtful differences of opinion or respectful disagreements, but the other stuff does not have a place. Anyone is free to contact me directly by email and say whatever your heart desires if you choose to put a name to the thought.

Kudos!!! Continue doing you chica! Life is too short not to enjoy it and it's apparent that some people haven't grasped that concept. I live vicariously through you so keep the blogs coming! Waiting on pics from the vacay ;)

Well written Brianna! Free speech is fine and dandy but so is the freedom to delete the haters, lol.

Ms. Glenn,
This kind of situation reminds me of what I think when I witness the aftermath of something like, say, vandalism, “Is there some point in any of this?” It is really hard for me to ever comprehend the thought patterns behind such actions. Do you ever just find yourself at a loss as to why someone would even put out the effort for purposeless, meaningless destruction of some kind? It is kind of comforting to read what appears to be your ‘mystification’ also, about the sheer stupidity of purposeless, mean-spirited actions, whether physical or verbal. Well, you’re not alone; if someone doesn’t like your blog (or you or your subject matter or your bathing suit or whatever) I struggle to imagine why they’d comment or return (like the logic in repeatedly returning to a restaurant where you hate the food, lol).
But, then again, there seems to be no accounting to the debased level we find some humans willing to strive for.

LOL - I LOVE what Lala posted! Short, sweet, and PERFECT!

I hope you do decide to delete the posters - or, if not, make it so people can't post anonymously so that we can give them the proper "what for". :-)

Bri, I'm not sure why people are feeling the need to be harassing you so much. Kudos to you as you really have managed to take the high road. I really think you should consider comment moderation....it is after all YOUR blog!

Keep doing your thing. At least the haters are reading. Be like TI and use them as MOTIVATION.

You need to write a post telling the haters to get on their job because they are going to fuel your fire to be the best Brianna you can be.

Delete any foolishness someone decides to leave chica. I'm glad you realized they're only doing it to get under your skin. It's definitely not worth your energy to respond or get defensive. F*ck em' - they don't know you!

It's about time you laid down the law! Only people without anything positive in their life, spend time making other people miserable.

For all you haters and agitators read "The War of Art" by Steven Pressfield or "Who Moved my Cheese" and get busy with what makes you happy.

Bri, DO YOU!

PEACE!

I am glad to see that you turned on the comment moderation tool. I was getting annoyed @ the anonymous comments for you. It amazes me just how crazy people are! Hope that Mexico was fun & I see you had tons of fun with Jasmine, Bianca, Jennie, and Mel too!! Hope your week is full of fun!

Brianna...

I lurk and enjoy your blog. Remember, this is YOUR space. As my mama always says....when people STOP hating, its time to hang it up :)

Who cares what a total stranger (under the guise of anonymity) has to say? If you're going to criticize someone you have never even met, at least man up and leave your name. PUNKS.

Live your life, do you, be happy.

If folks don't like reading about it (and they must cause they keep coming back)they can click the X in the top right box.

Have a margarita for me!

Hi Brianna,

I just recently started to follow your blog and I too was very disturbed by some of the comments folks have been leaving. Who the heck do they think they are? I'm so glad you considered the comment moderation tool. Do you, and do you well...that's my motto. I'm going to 'Do Me' regardless of the opinions of those that both know me and don't know me. After all at the end of the day I have to be happy with me, right? Same for you.

I'm glad that you had the opportunity to go away and just enjoy yourself. It's in those relaxing times when you turn down the volume of life that God will speak so softly and let you know which step to take. Always remember that your steps are ordered...as long as you remain on that path you'll end up at the right destination. And when you do, be sure to give a shout out to all of the haters that tried to prevent your arrival!

Keep it funky...

I completely understand where you are coming from. I once did not moderate the comments on my blog, until I started getting personal attacks and anti-Israel comments. Some people simply have no life, and they find their outlets in being negative. In the end the fact that you keep blogging and doing what you are doing is the ultimate counter to such people. That and also deleting their comments.
