In a nutshell

I really haven’t been leading that exciting of a life in the last couple of weeks, being that I continue to simply stay confused about my future and all. I also really haven’t had much to blog about. Nothing entirely interesting or noteworthy that I felt was worth sharing, that’s for sure. So that being the case, I figured I would sum up my week with a few unimportant stories, not quite worth there own separate blog posts, but that might be passable in a compilation post.

BLENDING IN

This week marks the beginning of me not being a complete lump on a log. I have started doing civilian workouts, at a civilian gym no less. This of course presents a problem because I do have an aversion at these types of establishments. People talk too darn much and I see them peeking out of the corner of their eye either wondering what it is I do or chuckling why I’m breathing so hard after jogging for 10 minutes. Whatever the case, it’s the one spot I do not like attention. I wear pants and I never take off my shirt under any circumstances. But the other day I did catch someone copying my abs workout. They tried to be inconspicuous but I’m pretty sure there are few people in this world who would just happen to do the same exercises I do. So much for blending in…

I NEED MEAT

This weekend was the time for BBQ’s and anybody who knows me knows that I like to eat. I especially like to eat meat cooked on a grill. So why did someone have the audacity to throw a BBQ and not grill any meat?! We show up to some chips and dip, a few chicken wings, and beverages. Who wants a BBQ with no meat? The whole point is to be a reckless carnivore. Needless to say, we didn’t stick around long.

INVERSELY PROPORTIONATE

We have a phenomena here in the U.S. that says what you pay for a meal will be inversely proportionate to the size of that meal. Last week I was at cheesecake factory and listened amusingly as two girls from England about fell out of their chairs by the size of their meals. Both ordered an appetizer a piece AND entrees. Everyone knows you can feed at least 3 people with one entrĂ©e from Cheesecake. Then, on Friday a friend and I were treated to an extra special dinner at a fine dining establishment prepared especially just for us by the chef. Luckily it included numerous courses because each one on their own would be about enough to feed a rabbit. I think they also like to literally include a bit of rabbit food on top of each dish…just random green stuff thrown on top for no apparent reason. Does anybody actually eat that stuff?! As good as the presentation was, and considering how delicious it tasted, I still will never understand how they get away with charging so much and giving you so little.

GIRL POWER

I had an appointment today at the Apple Store because my computer power source decided to suddenly stop working. Obviously this a catastrophe of immense proportions and I was forced to find the first available appointment in southern California. Unfortunately for me I arrived late and then proceeded to park as far away as possible from my destination. It literally took me almost 20 minutes to walk to where I was trying to go. So…I was late and they had cancelled my appointment. I was then informed that there were no more spots available that day and I would have to reschedule. Of course this was not an option. This is where the damsel in distress kicks in. Unfortunately, this is not something that will work unless you are a damsel so I’m not exactly sure what men do in these situations. Any time you need something to be done and could use a little extra assistance from anyone with an XY chromosome, it is beneficial that you know the power you possess as a woman. This works best when you pretend like you are unaware that you yield such power of course. Needless to say, I was reinstated on the list and seen by the next available genius. Wait time = 30 seconds.

since I'm awake with my wack sleeping schedule, uggghhhh!, i figured i'd weigh in on the whole gym thing since I wrote a blog about that not too long ago. i really don't like going in there. i think it's weird that most of us "track folk" share this sentiment. i'm fully covered up as well, but it definitely doesn't lack for an interesting outing, if not the most ideal circumstance :)

BTW, if you have something fun and exciting to do today, please give me a call.....

I can already hear Medo's imminent comments centering around the themes of superciliousness, elitism and ingratitude.

Ummm, you could blog about a dinner you had on Friday night...that, or how much I rock your world! :)
I hope you get your BBQ today because I'll be enjoying my tofu-chicken grilled sandwich! :)
love you!

^5 to girl power. lol.

Are some guys so gullible, or are they on to the "damsel in distress" act and let us continue in the act so that they can be entertained... thinking... or maybe it gives them the opportunity to be a "hero"...

I'm a sucka for the "damsel in distress"! And I can spot one out a mile away before I am confronted but I seem to give in everytime. Society often put these distressed damsels in sales positions to get men to purchase a product that we don't need. LOL!

Actually Brianna, I love this blog. It just could be your best yet! For it is the real you! It is about life and not just the sport. Life is always better than sport. Sport is a result of life. Get it? Few do who reply here.

You say:

"I really haven’t been leading that exciting of a life in the last couple of weeks"

COMPARED TO WHO? EVERYTHING IS RELATIVE AND SO MANY HAVE SO MUCH LESS IN LIFE. YOU ARE A WELL TRAVELED GIRL. HAVE YOU BEEN TO MEXICO CITY? COLOMBIA IN CERTAIN PARTS OF THEIR CITIES? OR IS YOUR ONLY EXPERIENCE IN LIFE BEEN IN THE POSSHY HOTELS AND YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT REAL SUFFERING OF HUMANS IS AND YOU COMPLAIN THAT YOUR LATTE HAS TOO MUCH FOAM AND YOU DON'T KNOW IF YOU WANT TO GET YOUR NAILS DONE OR TO TAKE A NAP.

"at a civilian gym"

AND YOU ARE?

FURTHER A POST ABOVE: "track folk"? KINDA ARROGANT WHOEVER THIS CHICK IS (JACKIE EDWARDS), DON'T YOU THINK? SORRY, DON'T KNOW YOU, PERHAPS YOUR JUST "REGULAR FOLK" JACKIE?.......TO FURTHER MY POINT........

"We show up to some chips and dip, a few chicken wings, and beverages"

UT UM. NOT TO STEREOTYPE BUT WERE YOUR HOSTS "BLACK", "AFRICAN AMERICAN", "INSERT POLITICALLY CORRECT HERE"?

"Does anybody actually eat that stuff?"

NO, ITS A WASTE OF MONEY. CHEESECAKE FACTORY IN MARINA DEL RAY?

"I’m not exactly sure what men do in these situations"

WE BRING OUR HOT GIRLFRIEND WITH US AND PICK A MALE HELPER OR..... PICK THE HOMELY GIRL WITH GLASSES AND COMPLIMENT HER GREASY HAIR OR BETTER YET, WITH ANY SALES GIRL..... "HI, CAN YOU HELP ME?" WHILE LOOKING AT HER LIPS AND FOREHEAD WITH EYES NOT LOOKING HER UP AND DOWN, BUT LIPS TO FOREHEAD LOOK SLOWLY. IT WORKS EVERY TIME IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. OR MAYBE ITS JUST ME. HA!

HOWEVER, MAC IS THE WORST COMPUTER ON THE EARTH NEXT TO THE ONE THEY GIVE TO IMPOVERISHED SCHOOL KIDS IN AFRICA. THEY DON'T WORK! BUY A PC.

I liked this blog. Thanks

Once again brianna fantastic blog it's the best out here i think. Let me apologize for my "addiction" comment-it was irresponsible-not everyone approves of that habit unless your willie nelson or matt macaughnahay(spck)-i'm neither one sorry. Medo Macs rule--you can keep p.c.'s and all their virus's--jackie edwards isn't arrogant she is one of the best world class athletes ever and 10x's more brilliant than most people and so damn hot! civilian gym's do suck-it's like sex & the city meets cheers.

I finished running in college 5 years ago and I still can't bring myself to join a regular gym. I don't understand how to use the machines and the treadmill. I don't like getting hit on while I am trying to work out. I don't go there to meet people. I prefer my garage with a squat rack, bench and platform. I'm set.

Brianna. I have to tell you. You are under estimating yourself. Each one of those blurbs would have made a great blog by itself. Throw in a random picture from the event and its priceless.

Keep up the bloggging.

Joe P, in Vegas, sometimes in DC:

Make up your mind. Does your mom and you move around so much in your truck with camper to follow the convention crowd (aka: clients) that you don't know where you live?

Yikes! You have so much credibility right now.

As far as Jackie...even the best athletes can lose site of reality and become very arrogant! And I don't know her, or her stats, never heard of her actually, so don't know if she is "the best".

But the comment of:

"i think it's weird that most of us "track folk" share this sentiment"

Comes from someone who thinks they are above the rest and needs a dose of reality.

JMHO (Just my Humble Opinion)

I have an idea for your next blog:
HOW SMART AND CUTE MY YOUNGER SISTER IS!

I can see the positive comments flooding in now!!!

p.s. you should have went to Aunt Linda's Sunday. we had ribs, hamburgers, hot links, beans, greens, potato salad and 3 different kinds of cake!!!! toss in a couple shots of vodka and I'd say we had a pretty good time!

Well I'm not an athlete at all and I hate the gym for an entirely different reason (although I DO hate the chit chat as well). I hate going because I seriously feel like I'm the only one there who NEEDS to be there and therefore feel like I stick out.

As for the BBQ - I've never heard of one w/out meat. I mean, isn't that the definition of BBQ - grilling up some juicy, red meat??? :-)

And as for the "Girl Power" part of this blog - it's one of the great joys of being a woman although I must say my husband has ZERO problem being able to work that angle for himself with the ladies, though.
