Finally the Bride!!!

It feels like I’ve been sooo close many times. For 9 years now I’ve been competing at U.S. Nationals with the hope of making a World Championship or Olympic team. I’ve had my good years and not so good years, top 3 finishes a couple of times without having the standard to actually go to World’s, and a trip to the World Championships as part of a relay pool. But this will be my first time on the team in an individual event and when I tell you that I am thrilled beyond words, I am only just scratching the surface of the exhilaration I am experiencing. It is not just the opportunity to go to Berlin, although that in and of itself is a huge honor and accomplishment, it is the personal journey that has brought me to this particular point of triumph, and the ability to look back on everything that brought me to this point and know that none of it was in vain.

I believe that my story is one of perseverance. I’d love to tell you that there was never a moment when the doubt and uncertainty got to me, but we all know that would be a BIG FAT LIE, seeing as how my struggles and disappointments are thoroughly documented right here on this blog! But I found the strength and the determination to not give up just yet and listen to my heart. I know that much of that encouragement came from you guys…my close friends and family who always stand behind me and support me, as well as all the rest of the people I’ve met along my journey who somehow found a reason to believe in me, to cheer for me, and who continue to have confidence in a person they don’t even know personally. That’s huge to me. There have been many times when I read your words and realize that the faith you have in me is the faith I need to have in myself.

The competition on Sunday probably deserves a post of it’s own for anybody who is even interested in knowing how it all unfolded. But for now I just wanted to make sure I let everyone know that I appreciate the thoughts and prayers and right now I’m one very happy girl. I am pretty sure there will be nobody at the airport that thinks I am mean today because the smile on my face isn’t going anywhere!

Yep, when you are able to reign in your ebullience for 10 minutes I personally would love to read how the drama unfolded. I was trying to track you online, but there was too much going on Sunday for me to be able to watch consistently. I am ecstatic for you. It's like my (hot) cousin just did something of international import!

Way to go, Ms. Glenn. I'm humbled just to be allowed to comment on your blog. Naw, seriously.

Awesome Wonder!

You are a "flying" example of how GREAT and GOOD God is.

And to think you've achieved this on your "alternative" knee. This is God saying; "don't worry my child, just put your trust and your life in my hands and I will make ALL things possible". :)

Awesome, absolutely awesome!

Your story is just more proof that you have to believe in the vision that is placed in your heart even when others don't. Its placed there for a reason: for you to make that vision come true.

I'll sit here and try to think of something clever, but what I sort of babbled yesterday as soon as I found out might be as close as words can come to saying how I feel. Knowing what happened a year ago, on that same field, when you landed that jump I hope you felt it and that you knew it was the one. And while I know that not being sponsored has only made everything harder on you every day, I hope that standing there as yourself when it was over made you feel just a bit more proud, and that it made those cheers sound a little louder and seem to go on a little longer, all that good movie stuff.
I'm wondering what yesterday means for your sprinting. Will you still run if the timing allows it at your meets or does USATF expect athletes to only focus on the event they have qualified for?

Ms. Glenn,
Well, I already said it on the last post.
But I DID want to say "Thanks". For doing the FloTrack thing. For the fans.
And your smile almost overwhelmed the camera, lol! Good to see you so happy!

And it ain’t the gold shorts. It’s the socks and shoes. Wear them in remembrance of Mr. Jesse Owens and 1936. At that very stadium.

Congratulations! Two weaks ago, somehow, I found your website and read some entries on your blog. Then, I followed the events in Eugene via a bad functioning internet live stream (living in Munich, Germany, I don't have US-TV) and in studying the result lists, I realized that the fabulous blogger made it. Again Congratulations! I am looking forward to seeing you jumping to gold in the capital of my home country. Christopher

Congratulations! The video wasn't too bad, you know we have all heard worse. I think the best thing about the video is your giddiness (sp?)and excitement. You were very cute and personable. Not that you're not normally but it showed a lot in the video.
